Ms Chhun Somaly, a student from Hun Sen Sa’ang High School, was born in Sa’ang district, Kandal province, has started to attend YRDP’s program activities since early January 2011 to be trained some courses such as Personal Development and Young Leader for Social Accountability. Now she improves a lot. She said “I have changed a lot including thinking more critically, having good relationship with my friends and other people in the society, knowing who I am and how to plan clear goals in my future especially I am improving my leadership skill, responsibility and qualification. Moreover, I have been aware of more good lessons to think more critically and seriously, find other people’s acceptable ideas, be able to manage my public speaking when I communicate with others or speak in the public, and could be affordable to lead myself to help society and family towards successes”.

She voluntarily worked in the recent team of Young Leader for Social Accountability (YLSA) of YRDP. This was because of she finished her PD and YLSA in bringing her way to participate in voluntary work at Y.R.D.P which gave her a chance to invest her time to learn more experiences in communicating with and coordinating villagers, commune chiefs and the core group members with whom she has worked. In addition, she could get more aware of good governance and its eight elements, could manage and prepare administrative letters, and strengthen her knowledge and abilities related to the social development issues.

Her personal plans in times, she has had missions to conduct field visits with rural villagers with warming welcome from the villagers as well. She expressed her needs to continue working with her best and knowledge that she gained from YRDP to share with the villagers in developing their communities. Finally, she said “If we are not part of problem resolution, we are then part of the problem.”

Ms Somaly joined in her group discussion focused on work plan with the community. This was her group YLSA's room which provided her space by YRDP to meet her members weekly and monthly to have social work discussion.

Ms Somaly joined in the social activities to play her important model with the community establishing club networks.
