Agency/NGO Request

for

a YRDP student volunteer

The Volunteer Student Service Program (VSS) provides an opportunity for university students attending YRDP programs to apply for a volunteer placement.  The successful volunteer  applicant will gain work experience through a placement within a YRDP office, an affiliated NGO or a United Nations agency for a short or long term volunteer internship.  The goal of the program is to increase the volunteer student’s existing skills, learn new skills, build confidence and develop a network with other professionals to increase his/her employability in the work force.

YRDP has successfully replaced student volunteers at UNDP, ADHOC, EWMI, CCHR, CCSP, AYAD, GAD/C, NGO Forum Cambodia, DPA, PAC, KYA, LAC, CCMCR, Heifer, CYA, CICA, RainWater Cambodia, Village Earth, NATIKHMER Translation, Phnom Srey Association, Maryknoll and other NGOs. Many of these agencies have repeatedly requested volunteers from YRDP. When there is a request for a volunteer from an organization, the Volunteer Student Service Program helps recruit to fill the request.  Then potential candidates will be provided an orientation on work attitude and supported through assistance and consultation from Youth Empowerment Unit (YEU) staff.  The YEU staff also provides supervision of the volunteer to assess the individual’s volunteer experience and performance. Ms. Sinet, the VSS staff will be in contact with the volunteer’s supervision.

We provide agencies with an opportunity to have volunteers to help on specific tasks, fill a need that may exist in the organization. Many agencies such as RainWater Cambodia, Cambodia’s Independent Civil-servants Association (CICA), and Commune Council Support Project (CCSP) have hired the volunteers from YRDP because they appreciate the good work ethic, critical thinking skills show by volunteer students.

Our volunteers can do administrative work, projects, community development, research, accounting, communications as well as other areas that arise in organizations. We hope that you are interested in having a YRDP student volunteer help your NGO or agency.
